Bristol drone filming and camera crew operators David & Howard were commissioned to film a promotional video for the cruise liner 'Seven Seas Explorer' arriving at Southampton dock at 05:00 Saturday 1 June 2019, we had only one chance to get this right so no pressure then!!
This required careful planing with more importantly a great Pilot-Skipper who was very experienced working with drone filming units. Understanding that how important is was to be well positioned in relation to your subject is vital maintaining safety.
We were hand launching and landing and operating safely this in itself was a challenge, good communication skills are required throughout.
The ship was traveling at 12 knots and required concentration to keep the drone at a constant distance whilst manoeuvring around the whole cruise liner giving howard multiple opportunities to get the required shots.
